Here is how Eric Describes what is available for you to experience in November.
Turning a square-rim bowl, is a great exercise in planning and refining design elements of form, proportion, textural embellishment, and precision in creating crisp details. The square-rim bowl is an opportunity to play with a very simplistic design. While simple in form, the overall process of creating an elegant piece of art worthy of the Resonance series requires intention, presence in the creative process and woodturning skills honed with precision.
Eric also describes some of the processes he will use.
Turning a Square-Rim Bowl: “Resonance” Series You will learn how to turn an artistically inspired bowl with an outward flowing square rim and crisp, echoing ripples. Created from a square-corner blank with basic turning tools, this demo will showcase the fingernail grind bowl gouge, finishing scrapers, & a no-sanding approach to creating a crisply rippled surface. You will gain techniques to create a flowing form, utilizing the cleanest of tool cutting techniques to eliminate tear-out & minimize sanding. This square-rimmed bowl demonstration is sure to set your mind & imagination rippling with inspiration!
